While having different backgrounds, nationalities and experiences, we share one thing within our education department: a strong belief in what we stand for and the unsurpassed passion to grow the JOICO® Brand and family.

Daniëlle Swartebroeckx

Director of Education

After years as Senior Education Manager at Wella and Training Manager at Estee Lauder, Daniëlle joined forces with JOICO® in 1993. She had a key role in introducing the then almost unknown brand and product portfolio to Europe and building the business to what it is today. With her contagious passion and belief in JOICO® she is the driving force behind the JOICO® Education Department and she constantly inspires not only the JOICO® Europe education team, but also educators, sales teams and stylists across Europe.

Wendy van der Helm

Creative Education Manager

Making people beautiful and happy as a hairdresser had always been her dream since she was young, but a long and slow physical recovery after an accident forced Wendy to start her professional career in a totally different industry. Her strong will and passion for the hairdressing business drove her back into the direction of hair and beauty, and she eventually joined JOICO® in 2001. Today, Wendy is Education Manager and focuses on managing guest artists, educators and teaching stylists to professionally use our trend collections and our brands.

Els Philips

Technical Education Manager

Els started to work for JOICO® in 2002. This coincided with the JOICO® acquisition by Zotos, the leading American hair product producer. She initially concentrated on developing new education concepts for the European premiere of the Zotos brands Senscience®, ISO and Bain de Terre®. Today, Els works with great passion and enthusiasm as Education Manager, passing on all her knowledge to national distributors’ teams and stylists and managing the JOICO® team of educators.

Kim Smeets

Educator

Hair stylist, color specialist, make-up artist, clothing designer and clothing stylist, there is nothing this multi-tasker can’t handle! Following 10 years of experience in the beauty industry and being the proud owner of a successful salon, Kim was looking for a new challenge in her rofessional career, which brought her to JOICO® as a full-time educator in 2008. Having been a stylist and salon owner for many years, Kim understands the needs of the professional hairdresser like no-one else can and teaches the brand with a strong translation to the salon floor!

Leen Valvekens

Educator

A high school teacher’s degree, part-time experience in a successful hairdressing salon and a successful 5-year career as national educator in Belgium made Leen the perfect match to join the JOICO® Europe education team in Helmond, The Netherlands. Her experience with in-salon education, her hunger for knowledge and her utmost dedication to bring knowledge across towards others make her a very loyal and passionate educator!

Lore Janssens

Educator

After being trained in one of the best hairdressing academies in Belgium and 4 years of experience in a booming salon, Lore joined JOICO®/Zotos in 2007. In the beginning of her career, Lore was mainly assisting the education department on the Zotos side of the business. Still responsible for the teaching of the Zotos brands, the launch of the JOICO® K-Pak® Waves andher passion for beautiful hair took Lore in an exciting new direction of Texture Specialist and full-time educator!

Myrthe Bressers

Education Coordinator

Myrthe started her career at JOICO® as office manager but only after a few months she knew that arranging and taking care of everything that involved education was what she wanted! Myrthe is responsible for the whole coordination at the education department. She performs this job in the best possible way with enormous dynamics, loyalty and passion!

Bert de Zeeuw

Bert de Zeeuw JOICO

Guest Artist | Neterlands, JOICO® International Guest Artist, Artistic Ambassador ExpHAIR the Netherlands, Salon owner of People Behind the Mirror in the NetherlandsWith two salons in Ede, a town in the province of Gelderland, Bert often sets the pace on trends and techniques, which other Dutch hairdressers follow.

Guest Artist | Norway, JOICO® International Guest Artist, Art Director InterCoiffure Scandinavia, JOICO® Artistic Ambassador Tendenz Norway, Salon owner of LaBionda, Norway. Often described as a perfectionist, Ulf has been hosting international seminars and shows for over 14 years. He’s also been the lead stylist on editorial shoots for magazines.

Guest Artist | ScotlandJOICO® Free-lance technical advisor, JOICO® K-Pak® Waves Texture specialist, Morag has had a very close association with JOICO® and Zotos over the last twenty years helping to initially launch the major Zotos brands/waves/texturisers and more recently also JOICO® K-Pak® Waves throughout Europe. Many also know Morag as “the Queen of Texture”, she brought years of experience to the JOICO® team.

Gianni Scumaci

As third generation hairstylist, Gianni was cutting hair by the age of 11 and he soon became the youngest creative director in Vidal Sassoon’s history. This position gave him great scope to direct photo-shoots, and shows on international level. He was invited into the film world to work with Hollywood nominees for the Academy Awards and Oscar ceremonies. His most recent work has been in collaboration with renowned photographer, David Bailey, on high profile shoots for Harpers Bazaar and GQ. His editorial credits range from Vogue Italia, US, British, Nippon and L’uomo Vogue, Vanity Fair and i-D. He has also collaborated with Escada, Geurlain, Ghost, Kate Spade and Juicy Couture on advertising campaigns.
