Cork’s style landmark, IKON Hair Design on Oliver Plunkett Street, has been named as finalists in a super-prestigious hairdressing competition to be hosted in London this September by the trade paper, Creative HEAD. In what is being seen as a huge compliment to Cork’s style and beauty sector, the celebrated salon is nominated in the ‘Supreme Team’ category of the Creative HEAD Most Wanted Awards to be held in the magnificent surroundings of London’s Guildhall and attended by the ‘Who’s who’ of the UK and Irish style sectors. This is the first time Irish salons have been eligible to be entered and as the only Cork salon to ‘make the cut’ it represents a real creative and professional coup for IKON owner, Valerie Finnegan Cahill, and her team.
“This isn’t necessarily about IKON – The “Supreme Team” is made up of IKON and its clients. It’s primarily about the relationship we create with our clients and their experience when they come to IKON, they deserve a level of style and excellence that exceeds their expectations there is a standard that we strive to deliver every day, so to have been judged by the experts to be worthy of inclusion in the finals of this super-prestigious competition is a real honour.
“So the real nominees here – the ones who should feel most proud today – along with IKON are IKON’s clients, because the real impetus, the insistence on the best, the sense of real style, actually comes from them. It’s a two-way process where the clients ask and inspire – IKON listens and delivers.”
The awards will be hosted by comedian, Rob Beckett and the judging panel include experts from Chanel and British Vogue. Beautiful trophies and an international profile will go to the winners in each category but the real prize is the recognition that the standards we’re talking about in a competition like this are….iconic.
