JOICO is proud to be an EPA Green Power Partner. Around the world, we are focused on sustainability, including resource efficiency and contributing to climate protection.
We know that sustainability initiatives are driven by consumer demand for green products, and a desire to create sustainable value for our business and planet.
Goals:
We aim to reduce the carbon footprint of operations by 75 percent by 2030. To do so, we are committed to continually improve energy efficiency and to draw 100% of the electricity used from renewable sources. We fully support the generation of green power in our plants, through funding and collaboration with external partners.
We want to influence the key levers in our value chain and leverage our brands and technologies to help our customers and consumers save 50 million tons of CO2 when using our products between now and 2030. We also expect from our suppliers to make a continuous reduction of the CO2 footprint of our raw materials and we thus plan to work together accordingly.
What We Do to Help our Planet
Packaging with Care
Our Vero K-PAK Color, LumiShine Color and Blonde Life hair color tubes are packed in paperboard cartons made from 100% recycled fiber. These paperboard cartons have been diverted from the waste stream, and are 100% recyclable.
Our plastic bottles for JOICO shampoos and various sprays are proudly manufactured in-house at our Beauty Care Hair Professional Manufacturing plant, and use up to 25% post-consumer recycled materials (PCR). With our sights set on reducing our carbon footprint, we here at JOICO are continuously looking at new technologies, materials and other ways to improve our eco-friendly practices.
Wind in Works
JOICO has invested in wind energy for our Beauty Care Hair Professional Manufacturing plant. In 2018 we generated 2,800,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of on-site wind energy, which helped power our production in a clean and sustainable way further helping to reduce our carbon footprint.
